Marble of Carrara
The Capitoline Modesty dates from the second century AD. It is a replica of the portrait statue genre in use during the imperial era that was also very much appreciated during the eighteenth century. It was used as a base for the Torlonia Modesty statue by Bartolomeo Cavaceppi.
